Each index is a market-cap-weighted basket of its constituent artists. Every artist contributes a monthly price index built from their full auction record and the time-aware LiveArt Estimate (LAE); weights are capped per name, chain-linked into the index, rebalanced annually, and rebased to 1000 at January 2000. Values revise as new auction results update the estimates — the same restating behaviour as the S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller home-price indices.
One deterministic engine for every index: capped market-cap weights, chain-linked monthly returns, and an annual rebalance. Each value is reproducible from the underlying per-artist LAE series — no appraisals, no discretion.
Published daily and resolved monthly, with the current month provisional until it closes. A common base of 1000 at January 2000 makes levels comparable across the whole family.
As new auction results arrive, LiveArt re-estimates each artist's history, so past index levels restate — standard for transaction-driven indices like Case-Shiller and the FHFA House Price Index. Every value carries an as-of date and model version.
Wealth managers, family offices, structured-product issuers and ETP sponsors license bespoke LiveArt indices as the benchmark for their own product lines — from an ESG-screened contemporary cut for a structured note, to a single-region market-cap index for a family office. We design, calculate, audit, and distribute against your spec.
Setup, monthly calculation, audit, and licensing — handled end-to-end by the indices team.
Women and African-diaspora artists, post-2000 sales only — for an allocator's diversity mandate.
A multi-family office's actual exposed positions, marked monthly against repeat-sales pairs.
Reference index for a 5-year art-linked note. Rebalanced semi-annually, independently audited.
Benchmark client art allocations against the broader market and against the price tier they actually transact in.
Risk-adjusted return comparisons across segments and tiers, with consistent methodology across reporting cycles.
Underwrite art-secured lending and fine-art policies against published indices — not against discretionary appraisals.
License a LiveArt index as the reference benchmark for an art-linked note, ETP, or fixed-index annuity.
